Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) confirmed a new temporary policy to extend the validity periods of post-graduation work permits (PGWPs) on August 2, 2022.
The new policy is in force now:
- It enables graduates in Canada with expiring or expired PGWPs to apply for open work permits of up to 18 months.
- Expiry dates of the applicable PGWPs should be from September 20, 2021, to December 31, 2022.
- While new permits are under processing, applicants will have the status to work.
- More details are on IRCC’s website.
