Due to “the high volume of enquiries related to the situation in Afghanistan” and the subsequent resource shift, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is “focusing on priority enquiries only” in the web form communication.

According to an IRCC news release on December 2, 2021, “Canada has welcomed almost 4,000 Afghan refugees”. From the key figures published by IRCC, Canada is committed to accepting 40,000 “refugees and vulnerable Afghans”. About 10 percent has been achieved so far.

It is thus anticipated that the resource shift would remain while IRCC is working on the commitment and that, as a result, some response delays from the IRCC web form could last.
