43% of Canadian permanent residents admitted via Express Entry in 2020 hold Indian citizenship

According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), 27,660 persons of Indian citizenship were admitted to Canada as permanent residents through Express Entry in 2020. It accounted for 43 percent of the total number of Canadian permanent residents coming to Canada the same way.

India was, by a large margin, the most common country of citizenship among principal applicants and their accompanying family members admitted to Canada through Express Entry in 2018 (43%), 2019 (46%), and 2020 (43%).
